There are times when you would like to have your very own world to escape the rigors of this one. Having a visual image to focus those peace creating thoughts on can help you to get away when you need to. Follow these simple directions to create your digital fantasy art world using your Adobe Photoshop program, then steal away there for a mental escape.
Steps to "Escape"
Visualize a mental image of the digital fantasy art world that you wish to create.
Go in search of the elements of that world. Places like webshots.com and freefoto.com are great places to look. For the purposes of this tutorial, I am going to create a world that features a moonlit beach with dual moons, one yellow and one blue.
Create a new document in your Adobe Photoshop program by clicking file, new and adjusting the settings to a size that is pleasing to you. A good idea is to set it to the size of your monitor so that you can use it as wallpaper.
Open the base picture for your digital fantasy art world. The landscape that I have selected is a beach scene washed blue by the light of Earth's moon.
As I want the picture to have two moons, one blue and one yellow, the wash of color will be greenish. To accomplish this I click the shape creation tool icon and use the square tool. I change the color to a nice dark forest green and make a rectangle that covers the whole surface of the picture.
Next I go to the layers toolbox and at the top there is a selection
box that says normal as the default blending mode setting.
Take some time and play with the settings here, the look of the picture will shift as you select different blending modes. In time you will learn to anticipate what each one does. For now just play until you get the effect you are looking for.
