A Digital Fantasy Art World of Your Own
Last week, we explored how to add and alter the color of a moon in your digital fantasy landscape. For the third and final installment, I'll teach you how to add other elements to your fantasy world.
Steps to "Escape" with Photoshop Continued
- The digital fantasy art world that we have been creating has really begun to take shape and you are getting to be more familiar and comfortable with your Adobe Photoshop program. Let's continue and complete our first project (if you're lost, try going through the steps in Part 1 and Part 2 of Digital Fantasy Art World.
- Move the second object to the position that you want it to occupy in the dreamscape of your digital fantasy art world. Also be sure that this layer is on top of all of the rest so that it is not affected or covered by other layers.
- The next element that I want in my digital fantasy art world is a castle on the far shore of this moonlit lake. With what you have learned in manipulating your Adobe Photoshop program, you will know how to cut and drag the object to the project.
- One thing to add to that is that the foreground of my beachscape has some trees at the waters edge. I will necessarily want these to cover part of the castle. How will we do this? I'm sure if you think back to what we have already done you will figure it out.
- That is right! You will use the same technique that we used to copy the first moon from the original picture base and copy it to a new layer. Remember to turn off the view of any layers that are in your way. The layer you intend to be working on is the one selected in the Adobe Photoshop program layer toolbar.
- By moving pieces and layers you will get the effect that you want.
- The last item that I want to add to my digital fantasy art landscape is a fae. This is of course from a painting and it is very large. This is easily dealt with. Again, select the item using whatever lasso tool works best, I use the magnetic again, and select then drag the object to the project window.
- Click on the Edit option at the top of the Adobe Photoshop program window and go down to free transform. Your object now has a bounding box. When you place your cursor over any of the handles the cursor becomes double headed and you can drag the object larger or smaller.
- Stand back and admire - the world of your retreat.
